In partnership with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) we’re excited to launch Takeover Melbourne - a new initiative that creates a powerful platform for young Melburnians to be heard. Takeover Melbourne encourages young people in high school (12-18 years), or of equivalent age if outside formal education, to submit their stories, including their hopes, challenges, ideas and life experiences.
Winners will be selected from each of Melbourne’s metropolitan councils and will work with the ABC to have their stories produced and broadcast locally and nationally on ABC TV, ABC Radio and the ABC website. A Gala Screening Event will be held in late 2020 to celebrate the winners. An Australian first, Takeover Melbourne enhances the resilience of young Melburnian’s by placing them at the centre of conversations that shape their communities.
Are you interested or do you know a young person keen on making a change in Melbourne?
Entries are open 12 March 2020 and close on 26 June 2020.
Winners will be announced on 30 November 2020.
Schools can also get involved! Takeover Melbourne is mapped to the Australian curriculum for year 10 classes. More information see here.
